Reserve materials, which are designated by instructors as required or supplementary readings for their courses are temporarily reserved for the semester. Reserve materials and journals with orange seals can be checked out for 3 weeks. But, the books with red seals cannot be checked out.
Those with a kintaishutsu label can be used within the library only. They can be photocopied using the coin-operated photocopying machine in the lobby outside the library. Please be careful to keep within the guidelines of the photocopy law.
Those holdings can be reviewed within the library only.
Newly arrived books are on display for one month before being shelved in the stacks. These books also can be checked out.
Those books can be checked out for a maximum of 3 weeks.
If you are late in returning books after second due date, we will ask you to pay a late fine at the rate of 10 yen per day.

In more recent times, we have been focusing on the computer circulation system using the Brown Style. This process is nearly completed, so I would like to proudly announce to you all the following important changes to the TC Library Circulation System.
From May 11, 2008, we have started using a computer-based library circulation system. As a result, please note that the borrowing term for course books is now the same as for general library books:

* Most books may be borrowed for up to 3 weeks, MA books for 2 weeks.
There are no limitations on the number of books borrowed, but consider your fellow students, and keep the return date. Reference and reserved books with red seal, cannot be borrowed- you may read them inside the library and use the copy machine.
When you check in:
Do NOT put the books back in the shelves. Return them to the returning box behind the office counter desk.

Library workshop for students can be organized on request at the counter. The time required: It takes 60-90 min.
To find & get the information that you want, we tell you the hints of search. You can also understand the search procedures for using ERIC, UMI, Ingenta, EDUCAT(Columbia N.Y.Mil bank library OPAC), NACSIS The workshop can be given in English or in Japanese.
The T.C. Librarian will answer inquiries and questions on all matters relating to the library, its collection, and use by e-mail.

If photocopies of a periodical article, or part of a book, which is not available in this library, are required, they can be obtained from other libraries. (Domestic and overseas) The user makes payment after receipt of the photocopies, depending on the regulations of the supplying libraries.
Inter-library loans are made from other libraries. Books on inter-library loans can be used within the library building only, and for a maximum period of one month. The user makes postal fee (One way)
You may wish to visit other libraries for special materials that the TC Library does not have. Ask the staff to provide you with a letter of introduction. You can make photocopies, but cannot borrow books on the letter of introduction; an inter-library loan shoud be arranged.
